Toranga Zoo

Tuesday was a beautiful, warm, day so we took the ferry over to the Toranga Zoo. It is a great zoo with great viewing of all the animals from around the world. We were there over 4 hours. One of the highlights was the outdoor, flying bird show near the end. The birds were trained so well to perform their routines.

The Sydney ferry system provides excellent & efficient service.

Another picture of the great Sydney skyline. It's breathtaking.

The original entrance pavilion from 1915

The Koalas were sleeping in the trees. They sleep about 20 hours per day.

The Komodo Dragon is quite large (6-8 feet long) and rather ugly.

 Australia has lots of lizards

 Zebras are so beautiful

A Gorilla playing coy with the camera

This is an Echidna, a combination between a ground hog and a porcupine.

The Aboriginal word for Kangaroo is Woolloomooloo.

 The Giraffes were very friendly

 Everyone loves the Elephants

The majestic Lion, King of the Jungle

 The elegant Lioness

 The endangered Sumatran Tiger

The outdoor bird show had lots of trained birds, including the giant Condor.

Many birds flew right over our heads
