Melbourne

When we docked, we had to take a tram into downtown Melbourne and we spent the day walking around the city. What a fantastic, people friendly place.  It is a very livable city with lots of unique artwork on the streets. There are also several  lane ways converted into restaurants and shops.  We got to mass in St Patrick’s Cathedral and met the Bishop on the way out.  We also toured beautiful Fitzroy Gardens, a huge downtown park.

Being summer, there were lots of flowers around the city.

Melbourne has a very extensive tram system that reminded us of Toronto streetcars

 The street art is everywhere

Lane ways are very popular spots for restaurants and shops

They also had several restored arcade buildings that were beautiful architecture.

Enjoying lunch in one of the arcades.

We went to mass at St Patrick’s Cathedral, then visited Fitzroy Gardens
and the Victoria Parliament Buildings

Fitzroy Gardens were beautiful.

On the way back to the ship, we ran into the Chinese New Year celebrations.
